It Works!

Would recommend - yes

Elgato Cam link works like a charm. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to connect their DSLR or any 4K camera to their computer for livestream, etc. And Computer Lounge has the best price in NZ.

Was Warned Against This-Shoulda Listened

Would recommend - yes

To clarify before I say, this is only reviewing the product not Computer lounge who were great. Okay so the camlink 4k? Just spend the extra money for the hd-60 or similar. I was warned that the camlink was iffy but went with it cause it was cheaper and I had already spent a lot on my camera. It works I guess, but starts to have issues after 4-5 hours of streaming unless you do a workaround but its just not up to scratch for a company that has a fairly good record with quality. By all accounts the other Elgato captures are great, the camlink? Not so much. Spend the extra for the hd60 or something in that vein and leave the camlink

The Elgato Camlink Is A Worthwhile Purchase

Would recommend - yes

I had to watch a few YouTube Videos to get it to function perfectly which were related to the settings on my camera. I don't think the Elgato software is very good so download and use OBS.

Does What It Says If You Have The Patience

Would recommend - yes

Seems to work the best with the native Windows 10 camera utility and this is the easiest setup (basically no setup) for online video calls etc. The Elgato 4k Capture Utility is a bit hit and miss but it is not really necessary anyway as it seems to add very little functionality. I've had very good results from OBS although I sometimes have to remove and then add the video source or even restart OBS to get it working. When used with a GoPro 9 the video quality is a vast improvement over the USB webcam option.
