This Was Pretty Much Perfect

Would recommend - yes

It is a great purchase and I did not expect such a good result. It has a great price and the throttle has a smooth feel to it and has soft stops on the idle and afterburner sections. The joystick was great with lots or buttons, however it is a bit hard to di anything precise so a smoother curve makes it much better. Overall, still a great purchase.

Fantastic HOTAS

Would recommend - yes

With Microsoft's new Flight Simulator due out in 2020, the X52 Pro is a fantastic HOTAS that is well worth getting. The package comes with a joystick and separate throttle, providing flexibility when setting up your computer. The joystick has a great movement range with a minimal dead zone. The double springs mean the stick returns to its neutral position nicely. The throttle's tension control is a fantastic addition, but it would be nice to see one on the joystick as well. Quite probably my favourite feature is the mouse controls on the throttle. If you’re considering purchasing a HOTAS, I'd strongly recommend the X52.

Save Up For Something Else

Would recommend - no

For the price point of $300 this seems to be the midrange for HOTAS kit. Having used it for about a week I have noticed several issues which seem to be common problems for others when googled. The biggest gripe is the potentiometers (pots) which are primarily on anything rotary or sliding. They certainly give you the range of movement but when stationary i.e not being used they have a lot of electronic noise or jitter which means your zoom or trim or whatever you have set them up to be basically changes constantly. Sure you can use the software to create dead zones so that it doesn't register or you can perhaps use something more than a 10c product in the manufacturing process. I would have returned it but no guarantee the next one will be better. Other than that it's big, has lots of functions and controls and performs okay. The suction cups on the bottom are poor so there is a reason it has through holes to screw it onto something solid. It came in a box with no instructions, no bits of paper pointing you at a website etc so bit of trial and error finding the correct drivers - which although its a saitek product are now buried on the logitech site. It doesn't register on the logitech gaming software that sees my mouse, keyboard and headset. A mixed bag. Had high hopes but next time will save the money and purchase the next one up - warthog something or other...
